Welcome, my friend.
In this special video, I’d like to introduce myself as Brother Jim and share a little about the journey the Lord Jesus Christ has taken me on throughout my life.
I’ll tell you how the Lord began drawing me to Himself at a young age, how He changed my life when I was seventeen years old, and how He later opened the door for me to serve as a missionary in Thailand for six wonderful years.
This isn’t a story about me.

How does deception work?
Jesus warned His disciples, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” — Matthew 24:4 (KJV)
But deception is not always an obvious lie. Sometimes deception works by presenting part of the truth while leaving out something essential.
In Episode 16 of Brother Jim’s Question and Answer Bible Study, we begin with a simple illustration from a prescription drug commercial and then travel all the way back to the Garden of Eden to examine how Satan deceived Eve.
We then consider an important question: What happens when true Scriptures such as Romans 10:9–10 and Ephesians 2:8–9 are separated from the whole counsel of God and presented as though they contain everything Scripture teaches about the Born-Again experience?
When God speaks through His Word, is He merely giving us advice—or does He expect us to obey?
Jesus said: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15
Noah wasn’t given a suggestion to build the ark.
Moses wasn’t given a suggestion concerning the pattern of the Tabernacle.
Naaman wasn’t given several options about washing in Jordan.
And on the Day of Pentecost, when the people asked, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”, Peter gave them an answer.
What foundation was the New Testament Church built upon—and does that foundation still matter today?
In Episode 18 of Brother Jim’s Question and Answer Bible Study, we go back to the Scriptures and follow the foundation of the Church from the words of Jesus Christ through the preaching of the Apostles.
Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone. But Ephesians 2:19–20 also tells us that the household of God is “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets.”
So why did Jesus give Peter the keys of the Kingdom in Matthew 16:19?
What did Peter preach when the people asked, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” on the Day of Pentecost? And did that message change as the Gospel spread?
We follow it through: • Acts 2 — The Day of Pentecost • Acts 8 — Samaria • Acts 10 — The Gentiles • Acts 19 — Paul at Ephesus •
Galatians 1 — Where Paul received his Gospel Different people. Different places. Different preachers.
But did the foundation change? The question we leave with you is simple:
Where did God ever change the foundation? And if God never changed it, who gave us the authority to change it?
The Bible tells us that there is a natural body and there is a spiritual body. Just as our natural house must be built upon a complete and properly constructed foundation, our spiritual house must also have the foundation God designed for it.
A natural foundation requires specific ingredients. Leave out an essential part, and the foundation becomes flawed and incomplete.
The same principle applies to our spiritual foundation.
In this Bible study, Brother Jim looks at the foundation of the New Testament Church — faith, repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
We will also see an important distinction throughout the New Testament:
The Lord Jesus designed the Foundation in one verse of Scripture — and in the 21 Epistles that follow, He teaches the Church how to build the House upon that Foundation.
The Epistles teach us about holiness, righteousness, godliness, good works, Christian conduct, spiritual fruit, marriage, ministry, and church order. These things are essential to the Christian life — but they are instructions for building the house, not instructions for replacing the Foundation.
When we read the Epistles of Paul, there is an important question we should ask:
Who was Paul writing to?
Was Paul writing to unbelievers and telling them how to become Christians—or was he writing to people who had already believed, obeyed the Gospel, and become part of the Church?
Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and the other Epistles contain powerful teaching concerning holiness, righteousness, godliness, Christian conduct, spiritual growth, and church order. These letters were not to establish the foundation of salvation, we need to understand who received them and why they were written.
The Book of Acts shows us the Gospel being preached and people entering the Church. The Epistles teach those who are already in the Church how to live, grow, and build upon that foundation.
Apostle Paul was also reminding the Church how their Christian walk began.
Acts lays the foundation. The Epistles teach us how to build our Spiritual house.
In this Bible study, we will let the Scriptures speak for themselves and examine a simple but extremely important question:
Who was Paul writing to?
Did the Disciples Misunderstand Matthew 28:19?
Jesus commanded His disciples to baptize “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Yet when we turn to the Book of Acts, something demands our attention: How many recorded times do we find the apostles baptizing someone by repeating those words?
In this Bible study, Brother Jim carefully compares Matthew 28:19 with Luke 24:46–47, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, and Acts 19:5 to ask a simple but vitally important question:
Did the disciples misunderstand what Jesus commanded—or did they understand something about “the name” that many have overlooked today?
We will also step outside the biblical record and examine historical evidence concerning the development of baptismal practice after the apostolic age, including Justin Martyr, the Council of Nicaea, the Council of Constantinople, and statements preserved in the Catholic Encyclopedia.
But history is not our foundation. The Word of God is.
So before accepting something merely because it has been practiced for centuries, let’s go back beyond tradition, beyond councils, and beyond creeds—and ask what the apostles themselves actually preached and practiced.

If God Loves Me, Can I Still Be Lost? God loves us — but does God’s love mean that our response to His Word no longer matters?
In this Bible study, we look at three powerful examples from the Book of Acts: Apollos, Cornelius, and the twelve disciples Paul met in Acts 19.
Apollos was sincere, fervent in spirit, and mighty in the Scriptures — yet Aquila and Priscilla showed him the way of God more perfectly.
Cornelius was a devout man who feared God, prayed continually, and gave generously — yet God sent an angel instructing him to send for Peter, who would tell him words whereby he and his house would be saved.
The twelve disciples in Acts 19 had believed and had already been baptized — but when Paul showed them greater truth, they responded by obeying the Word of God.
These examples leave us with an important question: When God’s Word shows me something I need to obey — what will I do with it? Jesus said:
“Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” — John 3:5 Repentance is essential. Water baptism in the NAME of Jesus Christ is essential. Receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost is essential.
Matthew 28:19 gives the command to baptize “in the name” — singular.
The Book of Acts shows us how the apostles obeyed that command: they baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Don’t build your salvation upon tradition, denomination, or simply what you have always believed. Build it upon the Word of God.
